This is a review by CHC on his recent SQ67 trip from GRU back to SIN. Sadly, this flight will no longer be around after October 2016 as it will be culled from Singapore Airline’s service.
Skyteam seems to have a weak presence in Singapore, hence none of the Skyteam carriers departing Singapore have their own lounge (Korean Airlines, Delta, KLM etc.). Instead, passengers will get to use the Dnata Lounge (previously Skyview Lounge, which has since been discontinued).
My upcoming reviews in october:
As a kid, I used to hold Malaysia Airlines in high esteem and would feel proud whenever I get to fly on MAS. But those flights were limited only to short haul flights on their old regional workhorse, the 737-400 (back then, flying was really expensive!). My first redeye flight on MAS was on a 777-200ER to Melbourne in 2002. It was quite exciting going on a 777 back then, although the 2-5-2 arrangements in Economy wasn’t exactly my favorite (but hey, getting to travel on a plane back then was already a luxury). My first and only long haul flight with MAS was in 2007 to London and my experience on that flight was far from satisfactory. By then, MAS was a shadow of its former self and was nowhere near their glorious past. It took me another 6 years before I gave MAS a try again. The trip was on MH73 from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur on one of their brand new A380-800 followed by MH 609 back to Singapore on a 737-800.
Canada was fun but a little hectic. 3 nights in 3 different locations:
We were quite lucky that the both days we were in Toronto and Niagara Falls, the temperatures were higher than that of Boston! The day we left Toronto for Niagara Falls, Toronto was enveloped in thick fog while for Niagara, it started to rain. Thanks to a clear weather, we had a magnificent 360 degree view of Toronto from CN Tower (where we had our dinner). A sunny noon in Niagara gave us opportunity for photo taking of the falls and the weather held up the following morning to allow us to enjoy Hornblower Cruise. The good weather we had in Niagara allowed us a magnificent view of the falls from our hotel, Sheraton On The Falls. Not long after we left Niagara, it started to rain pretty heavily.
We spent 2 days in Boston which was colder than New York (at about 5 to 9 Celcius) but without any rain. Boston was a completely different city than what New York is. It was more scenic, idyllic and not as intense with less people movement (probably it was a Sunday). Although I was not feeling too well (due to flare up of my Allergic Rhinitis), we had a fun day on the Duck Tour.
