After completing my reviews of my flights, it is time to write on the hotels. The first will be Delta Hotels by Marriott which is situated in Downtown Montreal. Delta Hotels is a Canada-based hotel chain founded in 1962. It was taken over by Marriott since 2015 and hence you can get Marriott points for your stay in Delta. This hotel is conveniently situated between 2 metro (Place des Arts and McGill) giving you access to various parts of Montreal. It is also within reasonable walking distance to the Latin Quarter, Chinatown and even Mount Royal Park. As for eateries (and shopping complex), Complexe Desjardins and Eaton Centre are nearby. A short walk down will bring you to Rue Peel, which is where the tourism office is situated in (you can get your Montreal Passport here, and many day trip agencies are located here too).
Delta Montreal is rated as 4 star, which I feel is a fair rating. I booked this hotel via Prestige Concierge to enjoy the Hotel Night benefit in which my 4th night stay will be free. I arrived at almost 5pm after a long flight from Singapore and thankfully check in was quick. We were given a room on the top floor (23rd floor) which is also where the club lounge was located at. The room is large and spacious and it comes with a balcony. We did not use the balcony as we had a city facing view and the weather was pretty cold during our stay in Montreal. The room came with a comfortable king sized bed and it was big enough to accommodate a sofa at the side. The TV was located rather far from the bed. There is a water boiler and coffee maker (with complimentary coffee and tea). Wi-Fi is available for free and it was pretty fast. The only thing is that the furnishing is a little dated but it did not affect the overall cleanliness.
The club lounge is rather small and spread over 2 floors. The food is located on the upper floor (which makes it a little inconvenient for those with mobility issue). Sitting area is available on both levels. The evening cocktail spread was limited only to pastries, fruits and some cold cuts with cheese. Hot and cold beverages are also available. Breakfast is also served in the lounge (for those booked into the club floor) and it is mainly continental with scrambled eggs. Food options include cereal, pastries, fruits (especially berries!) and bread. The lounge staff however had been great and helpful throughout our stay.
The hotel has a fitness centre and pool on the ground floor. The pool felt cold even though the temperature was 26C. The Jacuzzi pool however is a great feature for the pair of tired legs after a long day exploring Montreal.
Delta Montreal is a reasonably priced hotel situated conveniently in the downtown area. Metro access is excellent while it is within walking distance to many area. Hotel facility is average while the club lounge food offering could have been better. Staff are friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Room is generally clean and well-kept but the furnishing may require some update. On a side note, this hotel is pet friendly!
