For my short weekend conference in Bangkok, I was placed in Holiday Inn Bangkok which is located in the city centre (within walking distance to Erawan Shrine and many big Shopping Complexes). There are plenty to go around in this area – from entertainment to food to shopping! This hotel certainly ranks high in terms of location and accessibility. Even more convenient is the city monorail which is just a stone throw away from the hotel.
The hotel itself looked very business-like, with a simple lobby. There are 2 wings and my room was on the wing nearer to the main road (which may not be a good idea due to noise from the monorail). I was given a room on the 7th floor that comes with an oversized king bed. The room looked newly refurbished and is spacious. Besides the bed, you have a work desk and an office chair too. There is still plenty of room for you to put your luggage and walk around. The toilet is fairly spacious and it has a glass panel that look into the room (which can be covered with a blind). The room comes with complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water that is replenished daily. The room was quite well lit and even came with colourful LED mood lighting! WiFi is also complimentary for all hotel guests.
Hotel breakfast was ok, good local variety with a cook to order egg station. Taste wise was ok. During my stay, the restaurant filled up quite fast but that is probably due to the delegates attending the conference.
Holiday Inn Bangkok is certainly a good choice due to its location and convenience. The room is also fairly clean and spacious. Being in a food haven, one can opt not to go for the hotel breakfast and you to your heart’s content! As this was my first and only time to Bangkok, I am not able to compare it with other hotels but I certainly would not hesitate to stay here again.
