CHC and I were accommodated in the Renaissance Hotel in Bangkok for our recent conference. The Renaissance Hotel is part of the Marriott chain of hotels (Marriott Bonvoy points). It is centrally located in Bangkok, within walking distance from Erawan Shrine (and very near to the Holiday Inn hotel which I stayed in back in 2018).
There is a BTS station just a stone-throw away from the hotel with Central World and Big C shopping center being nearby. This makes the hotel extremely convenient for moving around, food and shopping.
The room I was given was very spacious with a large king-sized bed. There is still enough room for a lazy chair and an office table next to it. Bed was comfortable (or probably I was too tired) but the pillows were too soft to my liking.
There is a minibar in the room but as usual, the price is exorbitant. I am more interested in the freebies (coffee and tea) and these are replenished daily.
The bathroom is large and spacious and has a separate tub and shower cubicle. Being the current trend, the bathroom comes with a glass partition (instead of a wall) that allows you to watch the TV from the comfort of your tub. The glass panel can be covered with the motorized blind for privacy. The room still come stocked with mini-sized shower gel and shampoo that is also topped up daily although I do foresee that these will eventually be replaced with dispensers (for environmental purpose and of course cost saving).
Breakfast is served at the restaurant at 2nd level. They have a large variety of international and local fares. There are live cooking stations for eggs and noodles too.
Renaissance Bangkok is a hotel worth considering given its location and comfort. Its proximity to the BTS makes it easy to get to other parts of Bangkok and for those who are less adventurous, one can easily walk to Big C and Central World for food and shopping. A short walk along the sheltered elevated walkway will get you to Siam Paragon for more options.
