  One of the best use of British Airways Avios is for short haul/regional flights. For my March trip, I spent 7500 Avios for one way Club Europe between London and Munich. Intra-Asia flights are also a good way to use your Avios, where a one way Business Class from Singapore to Hong Kong cost only 20,000 Avios (vs 30,000 for Asia Miles prior to devaluation). The tax cost about SGD $50-60 per person.
  
  I intended to redeem the SIN-HKG direct flight but due to mistake on my part, I did not manage to get the ticket on time and the availability was gone by the time I tried to redeem it. Hence, I ended up with CX 711 that flies thru Bangkok.

- SQ327 Business Class (MUC-SIN) – My first A350-900 XWB ride

  After 2 years of launch, I finally get to try the Airbus A350-900 XWB. SQ 327 was originally operated on a 77W which was changed to A350 since 2017. With the change, Munich no longer has any First Class.
  
  Singapore Airlines fly out of Terminal 2 (while the S-Bahn stops at Terminal 1). There is a Priority Security screening line for Business Class passengers and once through, you will be in the Schengen Area. There is a Lufthansa Lounge in the Schengen Area but international travellers need to use the one that is located after the immigration screening (which unfortunately has no priority line).

- SQ 308 Suites (SIN-LHR) – a rather underwhelming Suites experience

  This is my 5^th Suites flight in 6 years, the first 2 being regional (SQ866 and SQ802) followed by 2 long hauls (both SQ26 in 2015 and 2017) and now SQ308.

- SQ 176 and SQ 175 Business Class Review (SIN-HAN-SIN)

  I decided to put both flights into one review since these are short haul flights. 2017 had been pretty hectic on many fronts and I decided that I needed a short getaway. I initially redeemed a pair of return tickets to DPS for 70k miles but unfortunately the Mount Agung situation forced me to make some adjustments. I topped up 10k miles to change my tickets to Hanoi instead (as I have not been to Hanoi before). About one week later, Singapore Airlines came up with their getaway promotion where 30% discount on redemption was given on selected destinations. Guess what, Hanoi was one of them! I still had to play around with my booking to enjoy this 30%. I converted more miles from my DBS account and did 2 separate one way redemptions. I was confirmed on SQ 175 but waitlisted on SQ 176 (while holding on to my original booking). 2 weeks before my flight, my waitlist cleared and I duly cancelled my original booking and got my 80k miles back within 4 days (with penalty of USD 30 per person for the cancellation). This is certainly worth the 24k miles savings!

  I booked this trip as a one way ticket as I missed out on Malaysia Airline’s promo return Business Class ticket which I usually get. I looked around and found Malindo’s promo ticket at RM 590 (all inclusive) for 2 to Singapore. This worked out to be only SGD $95 per person on Business Class which I feel is a steal!

  This is the return segment of the flight I did back in February 2017. Since October 2016 I have been using return J ticket on MAS from KL as the price is exceptional at only SGD $200 return. Due to my recent trip, I had not book my return ticket and by the time I realized it, the promo Business Class ticket is no longer available. I decided to get a one way Malindo from KUL-SIN instead (which I will review later).

  - Qantas Business Class Lounge, Changi Terminal 1
  As Malaysia Airlines no longer maintains a Golden Lounge in Changi Airport, the lounge service has been contracted to SATS premium lounge. As Malaysia Airlines is now part of the One World Alliance, I would recommend one to hop over to Terminal 1 to try out either Qantas Business Lounge or British Airways Executive Lounge (both are just next to each other). One does not need to be a tiered member to access the lounge (something which Garuda quoted to stop me from using GA lounge in DPS while flying on KLM J).

  I recently concluded my short Seoul getaway. I bought the tickets in September when MAS had a promotion at $1068 (incl. tax) for Business Class (which was a great price). During the October promotion, the price went down further to $1018, otherwise the normal price was about $1900-2000. 2016 is the year MAS introduced the new J seats progressively and I managed to catch the new seats just in time as the changeover for Seoul happened on 31 October.
  
  Despite the excellent price, there were a few disadvantages of this flight. Firstly, the KUL transit. This can be mitigated either by taking an 830pm flight to KUL (leaving just slightly less than 2 hours of transit time) or one can opt for a morning flight and spend half a day in Kuala Lumpur instead. The flight time between Kuala Lumpur and Seoul is about 6.5 hours, leaving you barely any time for nap (especially with the meal service factored in). Lastly, the return flight from Seoul is 11am, hence one full day is wasted. If you are willing to compromise on these, MH J at this price is definitely a steal!

  My final leg for my October trip was my KUL-SIN flight on MH619. I bought this flight as a return flight from KUL and it cost me about $203 (not a bad price for a J return tickets).

- SQ636 First Class (SIN-HND)

  I made a booking from Singapore to Tokyo with a connection to Sapporo as I would join up with my parents for a Hokkaido trip. Instead of flying from Malaysia, I decided to fly from Singapore on Singapore Airlines to Tokyo and connect domestically to Sapporo via ANA (using the very attractive domestic ANA pricing for tourist).
  
  I had a choice of either doing the SQ 636 (which I chose) vs. SQ632. SQ636 have been flying on 77WN (which I have wanted to try last year on SQ1 but I didn’t manage to redeem it.) Being a night flight, it offered only a supper service (truncated meal service). SQ632, being a morning flight offered a full lunch service but is being served by the older 77W. After much consideration, I chose SQ636 for the sake of trying out 77WN.
  
  SQ636 has been served mainly using 77WN (9V-SWU, SWV, SWY) but there was once the flight was served by SWF (data from flight radar 24). Although there is a small chance that a bird swap may occur, most of the flights were using 77WN.
