Another pictorial review, this time from my friend CP who was recently in Bangkok for a conference and he flew back on SQ 979 in Business Class. Being on A330-300, he was on the old Business Class spotting the angled-flat seats in 2-2-2 configuration.

CHC and I were accommodated in the Renaissance Hotel in Bangkok for our recent conference. The Renaissance Hotel is part of the Marriott chain of hotels (Marriott Bonvoy points). It is centrally located in Bangkok, within walking distance from Erawan Shrine (and very near to the Holiday Inn hotel which I stayed in back in 2018).
There is a BTS station just a stone-throw away from the hotel with Central World and Big C shopping center being nearby. This makes the hotel extremely convenient for moving around, food and shopping.

Having last visited Bali quite a number of years ago, I decided to pay this island destination a visit with my family for a post PSLE (read: Major examination in Singapore that involves everyone) break. Bali has changed tremendously in the past 6-7 years but the major improvement must be that of the airport. Compared to the pre 2014 Ngurah Rai, the new airport is a major upgrade from the previous international terminal that now serves as the domestic terminal. If anyone had used the old Ngurah Rai airport, one would understand the amazement at the new terminal.

As a delegate part of a conference group enroute to BKK, I opted for a walk in upgrade on TG for S$185 to Business class from my Q category ticket so as to be able to review the TG lounge as well as the new A350-900 to BKK.
The Lounge is located in a quiet spot of Terminal One near the central immigration on level 3. There are a few lounges close by like the SATS (which is accessible via the Priority Pass card) and Qantas lounge.

CHC and I were in Bangkok recently and we had the chance of trying out Thai Airways on their new Airbus A350-900. We were booked in Economy Class (Q class fare, which is a semi-flex fare) and knowing of Thai Airways’ same day walk up upgrade, we decided to give it a try.
You can check the seat availability on Expertflyer before travelling to know how full the cabin is but 48 hours before flying, this info is no longer available and one can only check at the check in counter (on the day of flying).

Made a short trip across the border for a jaunt up to KUL with the family to celebrate the end of prelim exams to take a break from the drudgery of studying for PSLE.
As expected, crossing the 2nd link was a breeze and the journey up to KUL took just short of 6hours due to various stops along the way.
As I held the Citi Prestige Mastercard, which is a world elite master card, I had decided to stay at the Park Royal Kuala Lumpur Hotel which is part of the Discovery loyalty program, as I held Black Status.
