A short hop north was meant to position myself to try out Emirates 5th freedom route for their A380 First Class from Bangkok to Hong Kong (BKK – HKG). Priced at S$800 for a 3-hour route, this would have been the most cost-effective way to try out the famed A380 First Class. Alas, the price went up to S$1,200 before I made the plunge. By then I have committed to the Bangkok itinerary.
I decided to do SQ 708 as the best balance between not being too early and arriving in Bangkok with sufficient time to transfer to Pattaya (which takes about 1.5 hours).
